Welcome to the Architecture Faculty
Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about changes
that could be made to my faculty. It’s complex to talk about changes to the
faculty, mainly because there are many improvements that need to be introduced
to change things.
Regarding the curriculum, I think it’s better
than the previous one regarding the loads and distribution of the times, but I think
that the percentage of attendance at certain courses is very high, besides that
they are blocks of three hours once a week what I find little pedagogical. In
addition, the workshop times don’t allow to combine the subjects well with the
workshop. Although, the duration time of the career
decreased, I think it's still quite long compared to other countries like New
Zealand, where it lasts for 3.5 years.
Another important point for the faculty, is the
management and infrastructure, because there are many inefficiencies in terms
of management, in all areas. As a professional and after having worked a year
in the A block, there’s still a lot of work to be done to professionalize the administrative,
financial, infrastructure and teaching management, I think there is a lot that
could be done to improve, but it's a matter of willingness to do it.
In terms of infrastructure, the situation leaves too much to desired, especially because this is the Faculty of
Architecture so I can’t understand the poor situation of the classrooms, workshop
rooms, especially the bathrooms because are terrify, bathrooms are inexplicably
bad and it’s sad because I think that couldn’t happen, it’s like “really, It’s healthy
to piss here?”. I can’t understand the situation.
Finally, about the use of ICT I think that has
improved a lot, there are new channels for information and I think that is very
good, although there is still a lot of work to be done.
